PASCO, Wash. - Franklin County Commissioners appointed the new public works director Wednesday and he's no stranger to the job.
Matt Mahoney was already employed in the department as a design engineer. He's replacing former public works director Tim Fife who was fired for not doing enough to prevent another employee's alleged embezzlement of nearly $3 million.
Fife was also the county engineer but commissioners decided to split up the job this time and hired an engineer last month.
