Humane Society enters new contest for $25,000

YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Humane Society of Central Washington needs as many votes as possible for a new contest that could net them $25,000.

They're asking people to cast their vote for the shelter online every day until the end of the month.

It's a side contest in the Rachael Ray 100K Challenge. In the main contest, shelters are battling to see who can adopt out the most pets by the end of this month. The grand prize is $100,000.

"This is the time to get out, to adopt, to tell your friends to adopt, find a great home for a great pet, and we have until October 31st," says Erica Seaver-Engel with the Humane Society.

So far they've adopted out more than 1,000 animals. They say they need about 150 more adoptions by the end of the month.

For more information on adoption you can call the Humane Society at 457-6854. You can vote online here.
