OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -
Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed predicts an 81 percent turnout for the
general election now under way by mail.
Spokesman Dave Ammons
says Reed expects turnout will be lower than the record 85 percent turnout four
years ago.
Washington has 3.85
million voters. More than 120,000 voters have been added to the rolls since the
primary, and people can still register in person through October 29 at county
election offices.
Counties election workers are mailing ballots this week. Voters must
return ballots by November 6.
