Yakima, WASH.--Over 100 wild mushrooms were on display at the Yakima Area Arboretum Sunday.
All of the mushrooms were collected by the Yakima Valley Mushroom Society.
Members spent the last couple of days looking for different kinds in the areas of Chinook and White Pass.
Some were very large or poisonous and some were edible.
Members said knowing the different types of mushrooms could save a persons life.
"If you're lost in the woods and you have a campfire and a way of cooking up a mushroom, it is a protein pretty much like a meat and will sustain life," said Bob Camarata, a member of the Yakima Valley Mushroom Society.
Members said mushrooms were harder to come across this year because of the lack of rain. However, as luck would have it, they still found some extremely rare ones including the Bear's Head and Earth Star.
