WHITE PASS, Wash.-- With all the snow hitting the mountains over the past week, White Pass Ski Area says it's in pretty good shape for the upcoming ski season.
They say despite predictions of a dry winter, they're actually seeing more snow than usual right now.
This time of year, they typically see about five or six inches at the summit. However, this year they've already hit 18 inches on top.
The ski area says they're shooting for their usual opening date around Thanksgiving.
"We're looking forward to seeing everybody. That's the great thing about White Pass is that it's kinda like... Since it is our hometown ski area, for us it's almost like the first day of school, you get to reconnect with everybody and see all your friends again," says Kathleen Goyette with White Pass Ski Area.
Goyette says attendance was down last year compared to 2010, but it was still the third best year in the ski area's history with 135,000 visitors.
