KENNEWICK, Wash. - A local elementary school is helping to keep kids active and healthy by taking fitness to the next level.
Three days each week about 50 students from Amistad Elementary in Kennewick work out with trainers from Gold's Gym.
It's all part of the school's federally funded extended day program. The school's principal said the exercise improves discipline and learning.
"Physical activity helps the kids process a lot better. They're ready to learn, they're in a good mood, they feel good. They're going to do better in the extended academic areas," said Principal Andrew Woehler
The school hopes to continue the partnership with Gold's Gym for future semesters.
