KENNEWICK, Wash. - Local students are taking a stand and pledging to stay away from drugs and alcohol.

It is part of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs awareness week at Kennewick High School.

It ia also spirit week at Kennewick High and with homecoming just days away, students say it is the perfect time to take the pledge to keep drugs out of their school, and their lives.

"I'm gonna be completely drug free cause I've seen what people have gone through over the years losing jobs, losing their family members, especially drugs that can kill everything you have right now," said Eddie Salazar, a senior at Kennewick High School.

The Pendleton School District is also showing off their spirit this week during National Red Ribbon week.

Tonight the Pasco School District is inviting the community to a candle light vigil at 7pm, at memorial park, to remember the murder of a DEA agent in 1985 who started the red ribbon campaign.
