YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Humane Society of Central Washington still needs your votes to win 25-thousand dollars.
They're competing against other shelters across the nation to see who can get the most online votes by the end of October.
The Yakima shelter is currently in second place behind Pittsburgh.
If the shelter wins the grant, the money will go toward a low-cost spay and neuter clinic.
"We continue to see about an average of seven thousand animals coming through our doors. And so we know... That the only answer is through providing... Is spay and neutering your pets," says Erica Seaver-Engel with the Humane Society.
The shelter is also competing to adopt out the most animals for a $100,000 grand prize.
Currently they're in 11th place in that contest.
To win, they'll need to adopt out more than 600 animals by next Wednesday.
