TACOMA, Wash.  - A former Buckley city councilman will spend a year in jail after pleading guilty to child rape and indecent liberties.

Randy Reed's original 10 year sentence was suspended because he qualified for a special sentencing alternative.

If the 55-year-old violates conditions of a lifelong probation he could be sent to prison to serve out the full term.

Reed resigned last month from the Buckley city council where he served for 18 years. Pierce County prosecutors said Reed sexually abused the 7-year-old daughter of a woman he knows.
