SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane County and the Spokane Indians, in conjunction with ALSC Architects and Kilgore Construction, have begun work on Avista Stadium improvements that will be completed in advance of the 2013 regular season.

"It's exciting to see the construction get underway and envision what the stadium will look like next spring," said Otto Klein, Indians Senior Vice President. "These vital improvements are necessary for Avista Stadium to continue to serve as a community gathering place for the Inland Northwest."

The current construction includes replacing the main concession building, upgrading the administration building, creating a new team store, updating restrooms, and repaving the entire outer concourse.

Avista Stadium was originally built in 1958 to house the Triple-A farm team of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Since that time, the stadium has remained one of the top ballparks in the country, winning Northwest League Field of the Year fourteen of the last sixteen seasons.

During construction, the Indians front office will be located in the home clubhouse on the first base side of the stadium and open during regular business hours, Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
