Child care worker catches Whooping Cough in Kittitas County

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. - The Kittitas County Public Health Department says there is another confirmed case of whooping cough in the area.
Health officials say an adult who works at a local child care center contracted the virus. The health department is working with the child care center to notify parents of any children who may have been exposed.
The Kittitas County Health Officer has issued a health order to exclude children who are not up-to-date on their pertussis vaccinations from the child care center for at least twenty-one days.
In Washington state, two infants died in 2011 from whooping cough, and in 2012 so far, 4,424 cases have been reported.
