YAKIMA, Wash.-- A police chase in Yakima early this morning ended with the suspect's truck crashing through the wall of a child's bedroom.
It started at about 2 am when an officer tried to pull over a truck but it sped off. Police followed the driver to 48th Avenue and Summitview. That's where he lost control of his pickup and crashed into a house and into a child's bedroom.
Fortunately, officers say the room was empty at the time.
"No one wants to hear anything tragic happened to a child, no matter any age, let alone any person, so everything turned out real well," says Yakima Police Sergeant Shelly Upton.
Officers say the driver, 21-year old Jacob Scribner, is at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with several broken bones and facial injuries.
Police say a female passenger was able to get out and run off. At last check they were still looking for her.
