MOSES LAKE, Wash. - Washington State Patrol says the driver who struck and killed a man last week in Moses Lake was an off-duty police officer.

On Halloween night, Troopers say 25-year-old Officer R.C. Sheats was driving in his personal car when 47-year-old Gary C. Kilpatrick of Moses Lake ran into traffic in front of him.

Troopers say it doesn't seem the officer did anything wrong, and instead seems like an unfortunate accident.

The 25-year-old has been on the Moses Lake police force for about a year.
