Rod's House busier during winter months

Posted: Updated:

Yakima, WASH.--A drop in resource center for homeless teens is getting busier and busier.

The Executive Director of Rod's House, Jill Sunwold, said currently they have about 30 teens a night, but as temperatures drop they expect that number to reach 50.

The non-profit organization recently got a $20,000 grant from the Yakima Valley Community Foundation.

Rod's House said they'll use those funds to employ a job readiness coach.

Sunwold said, "We are that stability that says so you applied at Burger King, what happened? So you talked to the manager? So now what's our next step? Are you going to do a call back?"

Rod's House is currently looking for meal partnerships. They feed homeless teens dinner every night and are always in need of food or cash donations.
