ELGIN, Ore., -- Oregon State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash on Highway 204 just west of Elgin that left a 44-year old man dead.
Police say that early Thursday morning a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck crossed an intersection at high speed about three miles west of Elgin. The truck went airborne and crashed into a ditch, then caught fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say it is unknown if the man was wearing a seatbelt.
The man's name has not been released.
