KENNEWICK, Wash. - Thousands of people got some exercise before thanksgiving dinner at the ninth annual Turkey Trot in Columbia Park in Kennewick this morning.
The Turkey Trot raises money for the Benton Franklin Red Cross to support their local programs. Organizers say they raised seventy-thousand dollars this year this is their highest total ever.
They also say the run couldn't have happened at a better time.
"The perfect Turkey Trot today, great weather, great turnout, a lot of fun. I think I saw smiles on everybody's faces," said Jeanne Jelke, Benton Franklin Red Cross.
"I didn't run it quite or strong normally would have liked to do but it was great," said Runner Al Mouncer.
Organizers say thirty-five hundred people registered for the 5-k or one mile events this year.
