Sounders' Alonso Named to MLS best XI

Updated:

Seattle Sounders midfielder Osvaldo Alonso was named to the MLS Best XI on Monday.

Alonso, from Cuba, has been named an MLS All-Star twice. During this most recent regular season he played nearly 2,700 minutes for Seattle. He is the lone Sounder on the Best XI and the third Sounder to ever receive the recognition (Freddie Ljungberg, 2009; Kasey Keller 2011).

The Sounders will begin the 2013 season in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League.
