
UPDATE PRESS RELEASE FROM THE KOOTANAI COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: At about 5 PM on Sunday the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a kidnapping.
The caller said her sister-in-law, a 62-year old female from Rathdrum, ID had just called her saying she had been kidnapped by the suspect, Mitchell Lee Walck, in the earlier pursuit/shooting incident that occurred Saturday morning.
Reports indicate that Walck hid in the victim's residence following the incident on Saturday morning, and then later, he forced her at gunpoint into her vehicle. The victim was let out of the car in Glendive, MT, unharmed.
At this time Walck's location is unknown. He was last seen driving the victim's 2005 Subaru
Forester, silver in color with an Idaho license plate K230050.
In addition to the handgun he used to fire upon the ISP officer and kidnap the victim in this case, he also stole two rifles from the victim's residence; one was a 30-30 Winchester rifle and the other was a Mossberg .22 caliber rifle.
The KCSO has obtained a warrant for Walck's arrest with a bond amount of one million dollars
for the charge of kidnapping. Walck is considered armed and extremely dangerous. If he is
located call 911, do not approach or attempt contact with him. This incident is being investigated by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office. The earlier pursuit and assault against the ISP officer is being investigated by the Post Falls Police Department through a cooperative agreement.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Police in northern Idaho say they're still searching for a man suspected of shooting at a law enforcement officer over the weekend.
The Post Falls Police Department issued a statement saying a local homeless man has been identified as a suspect in the case.
Police say the incident occurred when deputies tried to stop a pickup truck for a traffic violation just before midnight on Friday. The driver of the truck fled, and officers from several agencies chased him for about 30 minutes. The driver eventually stopped the pickup and fled on foot, and police say he fired a handgun at an Idaho State Police officer who gave chase. The officer wasn't hit.

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho. -The Region One Critical Incident Task Force is investigating the early morning officer involved shooting in Rathdrum. Post Falls Investigators have identified 57 year-old Mitchell Lee Walck (aka Mark Mackenzie) as a person of interest in the early morning shooting at an Idaho State Police Trooper in Rathdrum Idaho. The suspect fired at the Trooper and fled on foot, the Trooper was not injured.
Mr. Walck is a transient who is known to frequent churches in attempt to solicited assistance. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho - Police in Rathdrum are scaling back their search for a man who fired a gun at an ISP Officer during a pursuit early Saturday morning.
Law Enforcement does not believe the suspect is in the area anymore and say residents can resume their normal activities.
The truck the suspect was driving has been recovered and was apparently stolen from Twin Falls earlier this year. Police will be searching the vehicle for any clues that might help them identify the man.
As soon as we get any new information on this developing story, we will be sure to update this article.
Kootenai County Sheriff's Department Press Release:
KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho - On November 30th, just before midnight, Kootenai County Sheriff deputies attempted to stop a pickup truck for a traffic violation on Highway 41, just south of Spirit Lake, ID. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
Deputies pursued the truck for about ten minutes before they discontinued. Shortly thereafter, an officer from Spirit Lake located the pickup in their city and initiated a short pursuit until the pickup left the city limits, eastbound on Highway 54. The Idaho State Police then located the pickup in the City of Athol. They initiated a pursuit of the pickup as it traveled westbound on Highway 54, then southbound on Highway 41 into the city of Rathdrum.
As the vehicle entered Rathdrum, a Rathdrum Police Officer was able to deploy a tire deflation device. The pursuit continued onto Highway 53 and Bingham St where it turned westbound on Bingham. The pickup traveled a few blocks to the end of Bingham where the suspect fled on foot from the pickup.
The Idaho State Police officer gave chase for a short distance until the suspect turned and shot at the officer with a handgun. The ISP officer was not hit by the gunfire and discontinued the foot pursuit. Deputies and officers from the KCSO, Rathdrum Police, ISP and Post Falls Police set a perimeter in the area.
Spokane County Air 1 was requested and responded to the scene. They searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. At this time, law enforcement is maintaining its perimeter in the area and continuing the search.
The suspect's description is a white male, approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall, wearing a long sleeved gray shirt, light blue jeans and possibly a blue ball cap. He is considered armed and dangerous.
The pickup truck was found to be stolen from Idaho Falls, Idaho. The identity of the suspect is currently unknown. Residents in the area are cautioned to lock their doors and limit any activity outside their residences.
Citizens should not attempt to approach or contact the suspect. Anyone with information should contact the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office at 208-446-1300.
