Yakima, WASH.--If you haven't had your hearing checked in a while, now's your chance.
The Yakima Valley Hearing and Speech Center will hold free screenings every Thursday this month. You can stop by between 3-5 p.m.
Clinicians said one-third of the people they'll see will be recommended for a full evaluation because they won't pass.
You're supposed to get your hearing checked once every couple of years, but health experts said that's rarely the case.
"They say on average it takes someone seven years to come in and have a hearing test, so this is an easy way to do it," said Sally Rodgers, the Director of Audiology for the center. "It's a quick process and identifies the need for more testing."
The Yakima Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and the Yakima Valley Community Foundation are providing all the testing equipment.
