Crews Demolishing Davis High School building

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Construction crews are demolishing a portion of Davis High School this week as part of their major remodeling project.

Workers are ripping up the walls and ceilings in the old administration building this week. They're planning to replace it with a new commons and cafeteria.

It will take workers about three weeks to finish demolishing the structure. Some people say they're sad to see the old building go.

"There are some sentimental things about this building, there's some people that were coming by, talking about good memories they've had here," said Jim Wright with the Yakima School District

Crews are also working on the foundations for the new math and science wing on the other side of campus. They expect to finish it by next fall.

The district says the entire renovation project should be completed by 2015.
