KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Mayor of Kennewick got an early Christmas surprise Friday afternoon. Dozens of pink flamingos filled Mayor Steve Young's front yard Friday afternoon.

The flocking is part of the Mid-Columbia Partnership's efforts to raise money for a group of students who are planning to take a history trip to New York and Washington DC next Summer.

The mayor's daughter paid $25 dollars to surprise her dad, and it all worked out.

"I did not deserve this. However, I was truly shocked. I mean I walked out and I see a bunch of pink flamingos in my yard, pretty shocking," he said.

The kids at Mid-Columbia have already flocked about a dozen homes. and they're ready to do more.
