Union Gap City Council Continues Work On City Hall Mold Problem

Posted: Updated:

UNION GAP, Wash.-- NBC Right Now continues to follow the situation with Union Gap City Hall.

The city council is working to find a mobile unit to house all city employees while they build a new city hall.

Workers moved out of the building last year after they found toxic black mold inside. The council voted to demolish the structure and build a new one.

Right now, the council is deciding whether to buy a mobile unit or rent it. Mayor Roger Wentz says the council wants it in as soon as possible; so all city employees are back in one building.

"I think it will be a benefit to not only the citizens in increased productivity, but also the health and wellness of our employees," said Wentz.

The city hopes to install the new unit around March. They plan to demolish the old city hall around that time as well.
