Kennewick Jewelry Store Robbed of $10,000 worth of Gemstones

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash., -- An estimated $10,000 worth of gemstones was stolen Thursday morning from the Crown Jewel and Beads jewelry store in Kennewick.

Police say someone smashed a glass door at the front of the store with a large rock around 6 o'clock this morning.

Ten trays of loose, semi-precious stones were taken from a display case.

The store's owner says they don't have any security video cameras.

"There was a trail of gemstones from the case to the front door and actually out on the sidewalk," says Owner Ed Gutierrez.  "We're small business owners and we're just trying to make a living.  It's just unfortunate but it could've been worse."

Police don't have any suspects at this time.

If you have any information about this case, contact Crime Stoppers at 586-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
