YAKIMA, Wash.-- The city of Yakima is
hoping to finish two new wastewater pipelines this summer, to help with future
economic growth.
The city says completing the lines in the
Beech Street and River Road industrial areas will allow them to bring in more
businesses.
The city says the lines will be
beneficial for food and beverage processors, who need high capacity water
systems to function.
"Not a lot of people think of
wastewater lines as being really economic development tools but they in fact
are. It's very, very important for specific businesses," said Randy
Beehler with the city of Yakima.
The city also says some of the businesses
already in the area want to expand and the new pipelines will allow them to do
that.
The project will cost nearly two million
dollars to complete.
