RICHLAND, Wash.-- Kadlec Regional Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit celebrated 30 years Saturday with a reunion.
They held a reunion for patients, families and NICU staff at the Richland Community Center.
Children that once clung on to life in the NICU were healthy and happy at Saturday's event.
Staff and grateful families gathered to share an appreciation for the work done in the hospital unit.
"It's wonderful to see the babies growing up and strong and healthy and beautiful. Kids that we worried over and prayed over and their parents were so frightened and now everyone is so happy," said Lisa Baird, Kadlec NICU nurse.
Kadlec's NICU is the only one in the Columbia Basin.
More than 500 babies a year are treated there and the hospital plans to expand the NICU later this year.
