PREVIOUS COVERAGE:
KENNEWICK, Wash. - As part of Heart Month, Kennewick General Hospital will be holding two free "Heart Smart" events, with cholesterol and glucose screenings.
The Heart Smart health screenings are available February 15th and 16th, from 9 to 3, by appointment only to the first 96 people who sign up. Registration begins January 15th, at 8 AM.
Each 15 minute session will include a cholesterol screening and analysis, glucose screening, blood sugar screening, height, weight, and body mass index check, blood pressure reading, as well as counseling with a KGH cardiac rehabilitation specialist and a KGH registered dietician.
KHG says that everyone 40 and older should get these screenings, either from this event, or from their primary care physician.
"If the scores are not within the healthy range for your age and size, they are certainly indicators that you could have problems on the horizon," said Lisa Teske, the head of Marketing at KGH, "so it's best to get them checked and really again to understand those numbers."
Screenings on February 15th will be at the Southridge Sports Complex in Kennewick. Screenings on February 16th will be at KGH Pediatrics and Family Medicine Clinic in Richland.
