In celebration of Alta Ski Area’s 75th Season, the Alta Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau has a host of special events lined up, including two more rounds of the 75 Seasons of Alta Getaway Sweepstakes. The Grand Prize winner was selected on January 15, 2013, and the second and third prize winners will be drawn on February 15 and February 28. As a special thank you to all Alta skiers, Alta Ski Area presented a special torchlight parade and fireworks display on January 15, exactly 75 years after the opening of Alta Ski Area in 1939. A bonfire and festivities at the base of the Collins Lift immediately followed the torchlight parade and fireworks, and the crowd joined together to sing “Happy Birthday” to Alta Ski Area. Alta Ski Area has had a fantastic start to the season, with 210 inches of snow accumulation since opening day on November 16, 2012. The ski area is 100% open, and ear-to-ear grins have been on the faces of Alta skiers all season. Now is a great time to head to Alta to take advantage of the incredible snowpack and 75th Anniversary deals all over town.
The Alta Chamber & Visitors Bureau (Discover Alta) was formed in 2011 to promote Alta Ski Area and Little Cottonwood Canyon as a world-class mountain resort destination, and to enhance the visitor experience. Discover Alta is the official tourism site for Alta, Utah, and functions with the assistance and support of the private business community, individual memberships and the Town of Alta.
