UNION GAP, Wash.-- NBC Right Now
continues to follow the mold problem in Union Gap's City Hall.
The city council has finally decided to
buy a mobile unit to function as a temporary city hall.
The council voted last year to demolish
the old city hall after they found toxic black mold inside.
Union Gap Mayor Roger Wentz said they
were able to afford the unit because they left the city manager assistant and
the city clerk positions unfilled for the past several months.
"We've just put a lot of strain on
some crucial employees that have been willing to really go above and beyond
working a lot of extra time," Wentz said.
The city is taking applications for those
positions now, and they also hope to hire a new city manager within the next
few months.
They expect the new mobile unit to be in
place by mid-March.
