2012 Kennewick Man & Woman of the Year Announced

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Two Kennewick residents were recognized Tuesday night during the annual Kennewick Man and Woman of the Year Banquet.

Donna Vance was honored as 2012's Kennewick Woman of the Year.

Vance has been volunteering in Kennewick since she moved to the Tri-Cities in the 1970's. Since she retired professionally from banking, she has been volunteering full-time in her community.

She is a board member, and a past president, of the Tri-Cities Credit Association and Consumer Credit Counseling Center. Vance also serves as a board member and secretary/treasurer of the Tri-Cities Cancer Center. On top of all of that, Vance currently chairs the Kennewick General Hospital Joint Conference Committee, which links the board to members of the medical staff.

For the men, Timothy Doyle was recognized as the 2012 Kennewick Man of the Year.

Doyle has held several positions in Kennewick, such as a board member and vice president of the Downtown Kennewick and Columbia Drive Association, board member and treasurer for the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, member of the First Night Committees for New Year's Eve Family Events, organizer/volunteer of the Downtown Kennewick Tree Lighting, the driving force behind the Classy Chasse Annual Car Show Event, and the Master of Ceremony for District and Regional Dance Competition for local and state high schools.

On top of all of that, Doyle has also been a board member of the Kennewick American Youth Baseball organization since 2008, as well as a baseball coach. For KAYB, he has volunteered to be a Tournament Director, field gardener, plumber and fundraiser.

Even with Doyle's already busy schedule, he is involved with Southridge High School's DECA Club as a judge and chaperone, Southgates's Parent Teacher Group, and a middle school church leader.

The event at the Three Rivers Convention Center was produced by the Soroptimist International of Pasco-Kennewick and the Kennewick Past Men of the Year Club.

The 2012 Kennewick Man and Woman of the Year were chosen by five judges are not past honorees and were selected by the Steering Comittee.

Nominees were submited by December 15, 2012. Nominees must live or work in Kennewick and a significant amount of their service must benefit the citizens of Kennewick.
