WALLACE, Idaho (AP) - A man
will spend at least one year in prison for shooting at a helicopter.
John Ross, 58, of Fernwood, Idaho pleaded
guilty. He told the judge he was upset the chopper was flying too close to
where he was hunting.
Two shots hit the
helicopter. One hit a crucial part of the chopper's steering mechanism. The pilot
landed safely.
Judge Fred Gibler
sentenced Ross to four to eight years in prison, but Ross could be eligible for
parole after a year if he successfully completes a rehabilitation program in
prison.
Prosecutors say Ross had been drinking.
