Athens Vascular Surgeons have found success with medical imaging company, Paxbox Onesource, to have immediate access to patient’s images from anywhere using the latest in secure cloud-based technology.
(PRWEB) January 24, 2013
Medical imaging company, Paxbox Onesource has recently provided Athens Vascular Surgeons with a simplified, yet all-embracing solution to access patient imaging and much more. Athens Vascular has praised Paxbox Onesource as an integral solution to their company’s needs as a healthcare provider.
The large, state of the art vascular surgical group recently brought on Paxbox OneSource’s services for an array of capabilities: they can now easily gain access to their patients’ medical images from anywhere, diagnose and report from within one system, share images with other relevant healthcare providers, and receive a high-availability customized application that reduces their cost-per-exam.
“Our physicians are very pleased with (the system); they can access studies in the office, at home and while performing surgery. We don’t need VPNs or complicated infrastructure to have high-availability with the cloud-based system. The size of our studies can be as much as 5 Gigs, and even with high-speed internet this could cause a delay in our surgeon’s accessing the studies,” says Tom McLendon; CEO of Athens Vascular. “HPN customized our system combining a small cache server with the cloud storage to optimize the speed of access. We no longer store images on DVDs or need an onsite archive since the PaxBox OneSource product also provides us with on-line unlimited storage, access and disaster recovery.”
The company’s success with the Paxbox OneSource has opened up a new portal into the technology gates: with this immediate access through their cloud-based technology, it has created cost-reduction and increased efficiency in the way they run their medical imaging.
“According to studies, the cost of burning a CD or DVD to give to a patient or other healthcare provider is estimated to be between $7-15 per study,” says McLendon. “The additional cost to manage on-site archives and disaster recovery steps is an additional cost that has to be considered. For less than $6 per study, we have a full PACS system, reporting tools, image sharing, and disaster recovery. With no upfront cost to us, the ROI was immediate.”
