CAUGHT ON TAPE: Man Steals Money From Local 10-Year-Old

SPOKANE, WASH. - Rochelle Bryngelson just wants to go to summer camp. For the past several weeks she's spent several hours selling Camp Fire candy so she can go to Camp Fire camp in the middle of summer.

But on Tuesday night something went terribly wrong. She was selling candy at the Safeway on Newport Highway when a teenage boy stole all of her money right in front of Rochelle and her mother.

"What really upsets me the most is how can you steal from a child?" Penny Bryngelson said. "Because he stole her envelope full of money she has to work twice as hard to go to camp."

Rochelle raised $220 that night. None of that matters anymore because all of her money was taken by a teenager who ran out of the store. Her mom gave chase but was unable to catch the thief.

Inland Northwest Camp Fire executive Maggie Crabtree said despite this terrible act she said they will find a way to help Rochelle get to summer camp. If you want to help Rochelle or campers like her contact the Camp Fire offices at 747-6191.
