SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police have arrested four people in connection to a heroin investigation on the lower South Hill.  Over a pound of heroin and over $2,000.00 cash was seized.

Detectives of the Spokane Police Department's Special Investigative Unit (SIU) have been investigating a mid-level heroin dealer in the 1400 block of S. Grand since the beginning of 2013.

After obtaining a search warrant, SIU Detectives, Detectives of the Targeted Crimes Unit (TCU) and Patrol Officers searched the residence today and arrested four people:

Michael A. Schadler 6/2/61 and Heather S. Brannan 6/29/79 were both arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver – Heroin.

Shawn C. Quaintance 4/24/77 was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance - Heroin

Joel J. Simpson 12/25/85 was arrested on Unrelated Warrants.

During the search Detectives located approximately 1.3 pounds of heroin, more than $2,000.00 cash, scales, packaging, and other evidence of heroin sales and use.  The estimated street value of the heroin is $35,000.00.

Heroin use represents a growing problem in the region.  Addicts will resort to property crimes and robbery to feed their daily habit.  They often don't take proper health precautions and are ill with HIV, AIDS, and MRSA.

SIU encourages reporting dealers to the Tip Line at 509-363-8210.  Information received is confidential.
