RICHLAND, Wash.- With the successful passage of the Richland School Bond, it's now time for the board to move forward in search of a new superintendent.
If all goes well, the Richland School District could see a new superintendent as early as April.
During Wednesday night's meeting, the board set next Monday, February 18th as the deadline for search firms around the northwest to submit their applications.
From there, the board will go through the search firm applicants and possibly make a decision on Wednesday, February 20th which firm they want to move forward with in search of their new superintendent.
Richland School District's Communication Director, Steve Aagaard said, "Once the firm is selected, then they start doing their marketing and networking to find out what superintendent candidates are out there in the northwest or possible around the nation who might be interested in coming to Richland to serve as superintendent."
However, Aagaard said the district is late in the game. Most school districts in search of a new superintendent typically have advance notice and are able to begin the search in October.
He said this could possibly impact the number and pool of candidates, but the board says they intend to find the best candidate possible, whether they find that candidate this spring or next year.
