Final preparations, cuts coming for Fever

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. -- Friday the Tri-Cities Fever play the season opener. They will travel to play the Colorado Ice. There are still some roster spots up for grabs despite being so close to their first game. Wednesday head coach Adam Shackleford will make his final three cuts before the team heads to Denver on Thursday.

Shackleford said right now is hectic but fair. "It is. It's the fairest way for the players. You give them every opportunity to make this team. At the same time, you've got to make sure they're ready to play, and understand their role."

Fever defensive end Muhammed Usman added, "The goal is to beat Colorado. You're not necessarily worried about getting a job because if you're going to play, you're going to play. But you want to be ready. You don't want to be like, 'I'm going to play and not be ready.' So you'd rather be ready."
