A Tanner Feider 3-pointer with early in the second quarter
gave Pomeroy its first advantage since the early stages of the game, and one it
would never relinquish. The Pirates held off a late run by Christian Faith to
secure the boys 1B win in the first round of the State B Tournament on Thursday
at the Spokane Arena.
The Feider long-ball was part of a 22-7 Pomeroy run that put
the Pirates securely in front, 31-22. Pomeroy would eventually build a 14-point
lead later in the game.
Riley Bolt led Pomeroy with 19 points and Cody LaMunyan and
Feider added 16. Bolt and LaMunyan both grabbed 10 rebounds.
Makaran Toor paced Christian Faith with 18 points. Afrai
Stinson Richardson and Segun Amosun each contributed 13 points.
Pomeroy plays Sunnyside Christian at 7:15 p.m., while
Christian Faith faces Columbia Adventist at 12:15 p.m., both games to be played
on Friday.
