YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Yakima City Council
will consider a partnership with the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy at its meeting
tomorrow night.
The city is looking for ways to meet its
citizen's wants and needs, and this agreement could help them in that goal.
The city is considering an agreement with
the Conservancy to develop more trails for hiking.
The city is pursuing this agreement due
to the results of its citizen survey a few months ago.
Many of the people surveyed said they
wanted to have more places to walk and hike in our area.
The new agreement would see the city and Conservancy expand the number of hiking trails around our area, with the goal
of creating a connected network.
They would focus on maintaining and
upgrading existing trails.
Both parties would also promote the area
through educational events and advertising.
The council will vote on it at their next
meeting.
That's happening tomorrow night at six in Yakima City Hall.
