Lampton told the crowd that Washington and China are especially connected through economics.
"Just to give you a figure: In the last decade, Washington State's exports to China have grown 458 percent," said Lampton.
Lampton is the third speaker of the season; the previous two were Laura Bush and Wes Moore.
The final speaker is Dr. Robert Ballard in April. He's famous for discovering the wreck of the titanic.
