OYMPIA, Wash. - K-12 education in the state could be getting about $550M added to the budget.

Republicans in the state House unveiled a proposal Thursday that includes adding about $800M to education in response to a state supreme court ruling that says the state is not adequately funding basic education.

However, the plan would also suspend automatic cost-of-living increases for teachers saving some $300M in funding.
