Solo Goes from Isolation to Forgiveness, Future Still Unclear
CHINA - Hope Solo's status on the U.S. Women's soccer team is still up in the air. The team must decide whether or not to bring back the ostracized goalie for the 2008 Olympics. The future is also murky for Coach Greg Ryan, who benched Solo right before the 4-0 semifinal loss to Brazil at last week's World Cup.
Following that loss, Solo's bashed her coaches decision and and goalie Brianna Scurry all at once saying "It's not 2004 anymore. We need to be in the present."
Those harsh comments led to her team choosing not to allow her to suit up for the third place game Sunday, a win over Norway.
Furthermore, she was isolated from her teammates at the hotel, and didn't even eat meals with them. Some of her teammates, including Scurry, have forgiven her. Solo played soccer at Richland in 1999 before playing goalie at University of Washington in Seattle.
