Ambulance with police lights

GRANT COUNTY, Wash. - A 23-year-old man was found dead in a car on Monday along SR 17 due to an apparent overdose, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.

GCSO says at around 9 p.m., a Washington State Patrol trooper stopped to check a car parked on SR 17 around eight miles south of Moses Lake. The trooper found an unconscious and pulseless man inside.

Troopers reportedly attempted CPR until EMTs from Grant County Fire District 4 arrived to pronounce him dead.

Detectives from Grant County are investigating the man's death as a controlled substance homicide due to drug paraphernalia found inside the car.

The Grant County Coroner's Office is working to identify the man. An autopsy will be scheduled, according to GCSO.

GCSO notes that a controlled substance homicide means that detectives suspect that the man was killed by an overdose from drugs received by another person. If the person who gave out the drugs is found, they could see controlled substance homicide charges.
